According to a survey of managers, working from home for part of the week has become the norm for some employees.
A survey for the Chartered Institute of Management (CMI) indicated that more than 80% of respondents said their companies have implemented hybrid working, the highest percentage since the epidemic.
However, according to the majority of managers, senior executives are actively urging staff to return to work.
Firms should embrace hybrid work as "best practice," according to the institute.
"It would be very short-sighted of managers not to perceive some correlation between the shift in the working world and the drive to a hybrid [working]," a CEO remarked.
"We're seeing an increase in productivity and many firms' outcomes," she says. "We're not saying everyone should work from home 100 percent of the time; we're saying the ideal practice is to have a blend, so when you come into the office, you can accomplish those things that are tough to do remotely."
The survey found that 84 percent of managers indicated their companies had implemented hybrid working, with two-thirds citing the Covid epidemic as the catalyst.
Large organizations were more likely than small businesses to implement hybrid working practices, while factory, transportation, and trade jobs were less likely to do so.
According to the poll, companies gave employees the option of choosing which days they came to work.
Commuter numbers have increased as Covid limits have been lifted.
However, more than a quarter of train services that were operational prior to the Covid outbreak have yet to resume.
A total of 1,237 managers were surveyed, with 41% working in the private sector and 59% in the public and non-profit sectors.
